As an entrepreneur it is easy to get burnt out, which can often lead to frustration. We’ve all been there! Especially since most of us have jobs, families, hobbies, etc. Wanting to put your all into it is just your determination to get your idea/business to where you want it. However, a lot of people don’t realize that taking care of yourself first should be your first priority. If you don’t have yourself physically, mentally and spiritually it can be hard to get your business to the desired place…or it won’t matter because you will be too burnt out to enjoy it. Therefore, we suggest that you partake in some major self-care routines daily/weekly. Below are some tips that we have for you:
Take Time For Yourself and By Yourself
When people think of taking time for yourself they often think it means just taking time to something that you enjoy. Although that is definitely true, the other half of that truth is that taking time to be by yourself is equally important.
- Take 30 minutes to an hour (more if possible), to do something you enjoy. Whether it be eating out, working out, reading, sports, listening to/making music, shopping or any other hobby you may do. It is important for you to find the time to just do it. Research has shown that these types of joyous activities can help to increase your brain power and release endorphins.
- Take 30 minutes to an hour (more if possible), to spend some quiet time by yourself. This can help quiet the mind, which also aids in clearing the mind. Finding the time to simply be by yourself can also reduce stress. It be taking a bath, napping, walking, reading, meditating, etc…we just suggest something quiet because we want to relax the mind. Often times we all deal with a lot of noise from just being outside, to our jobs and even our families. Everyone is so caught up in the hustle and bustle that we don’t realize that this can create stress. So finding time to be by yourself can be vital to your physical and mental health.
Spend Time With Your Loved Ones
You ever find yourself feeling so much better after you see and talk to a friend that you haven’t seen in a while, that you used to, at one point, talk to all the time. Or, you hear your family, or even children say you never have time for them anymore? It is a known fact that entrepreneurs suffer from depression often because they generally feel withdrawn due to the focus and work it takes to become successful. Still, it is highly important to find some time to spend with the people we hold dear to us. Love releases powerful endorphins, especially from those we hold close. It’s different for everyone, but it is important to not only find time, but to create time to spend with your family, friends, etc. Scheduling family dinners, regular meetings, outings, trips and vacations…are all tips we have for creating time for your loved ones.
Put The Work and Phone AWAY
Easier said than done, we know. Regardless, this is a self-care tip that many of us fail to practice. Overworking yourself, and your eyes, though, can start to wear you down after a while. We must give ourselves a break from anything that is not of vital importance. And, we also must give ourselves a break from things that are not right in front of us. This is how valuable time for yourself, and valuable moments in your life can be missed. Entrepreneurs love to always feel on top of things, and have a million things they feel they need to get done before anything, OR ELSE, their business dies (no seriously, that’s really the mindset). However, that concept is true to some extent…but, that is not taking care of yourself if you are always working or on your phone. When do you have time to eat, sleep, and breathe?
We hope that you enjoyed some of the many tips we have to offer on practicing self-care routines. We know that you may not always have or find the time to practice these things all of the time. Nonetheless, if you just try to be as consistent as possible or create a routine, you will feel and see the difference yourself. So, remember to take time for and by yourself. Spend as much time as possible with your loved one. Put both the work and phone away, it can wait. Lastly, remember to get as much sleep as you can so your mind can function properly.
